Sunless Tanning

Lilia Day Spa is proud to provide high-volume, low-pressure (HVLP) spray tanning technology. The benefits of HVLP tanning compared to traditional airbrush tanning are many: you’ll get a more even and quicker application, less overspray, and less respiratory exposure to the product.

Tan Imagine’s Brazilian Brown formula options include an 8% DHA solution for a light-to-medium golden tan, or a 10% DHA solution for a deeper bronze tan. Tan Imagine solutions contain organic, natural ingredients and antioxidants, with no added alcohol. As a skin treatment as well as a tanning solution, Tan Imagine products combine green tea leaf extract and organic coffee seed leaf extract to improve skin firming and decrease the appearance of wrinkles. Your skin will leave feeling hydrated and moisturized thanks to its aloe vera and jojoba seed oil, and you’ll look great thanks to this natural way to achieve an off-the-beach tan. $35

We also offer Rapid Tan, a 2-4 hour tan that is the ultimate convenience for clients on the go. Shower after two hours to obtain a lighter tan (compared to an 8%), 3 hours for a medium tan (compared to a 10%), and 4 hours for a dark tan (compared to a 12%). It is not recommended to leave on longer than 5 hours. $45

Spray Tanning Tips

Make the most of your spray tan by preparing your skin thoroughly and taking good care of it after the tan. Follow these tips for the longest lasting, most consistent tan.

Before Spray Tanning

For the most flawless spray tan results, proper exfoliation is essential! Exfoliation removes excess oils and dead skin cells to better prepare your skin to accept the tan.

  • Deodorants, makeup, perfumes, and lotions should be avoided, as they can act as a barrier and inhibit the development of your tan.
  • Thoroughly exfoliate with an exfoliating scrub, loofah, or mitt the night before your tan.
  • Any hair removal should be done at least 24 hours prior to your tanning session.
  • Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment, as tight clothing can rub the tan off in some areas.
  • If you’re planning to do a nail service and/or any waxing, please do so before your tan.
  • If you have a sunburn and/or are peeling, it is not recommended you get a tan until your skin heals, as it will not absorb evenly.

After Spray Tanning

  • Do not shower or exercise for 8-10 hours after your tan to allow it to set. Shower with a body wash or shower gel, preferably SLS-free. Bar soaps are not recommended. When you shower for the first time, you will see a brown residue wash off; this is the temporary bronzer that was applied.
  • When showering, use your hand instead of a washcloth, loofah, or mitt. Pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing your skin. Do not shave with a dull razor.
  • Moisturize twice a day for maximum color retention. On about the third day, alternate your moisturizing with a tan extender (with DHA recommended). Hydrated skin makes your tan last longer and slows down your natural skin exfoliation. Avoid alcohol-based products as they dry out the skin, causing your tan to fade quicker and more unevenly.
  • Avoid anything that can exfoliate your skin, such as long baths, soaking in hot tubs, exposure to chlorinated water, hair removal products, acne products, masks and scrubs, skin renewing products, or exfoliating gloves and sponges.
  • When swimming or soaking in a hot tub, use a thick waterproof sunscreen to help seal the tan in. This will help slow the fading process but try to avoid spending significant time in hot or chlorinated water.
  • Do not sit directly on leather or light-colored seats after your tanning session. Sitting on a towel is recommended until after your first shower.
